Service Center FAQ: Answers to Your Service Questions

Do I get free oil changes?

Purchased Maintenance Plans cover costs associated with many routine maintenance items, including oil changes. If you've not purchased a Maintenance Contract, you may still be eligible to do so; please be sure to ask your Service Advisor.

Is there a recall on my car?

You can go to the NHTSA web site and enter your VIN and see if your car might be effected by a recall. It's best to verify with our dealership prior to booking an appointment.

What does my warranty cover?

The basic warranty on a Nissan is 3 years or 36K and the powertrain (engine and transmission) is 5 years or 60K.* Your Nissan warranty covers defects in parts and workmanship that occur during the warranty period. Routine Maintenance items and services - oil and filter changes, tire rotations, etc - are not covered under warranty, nor are items that normally "wear" over time, like most belts, brakes and tires.

So generally, if a non-wear item "breaks" during your warranty period, you're covered. Our Nissan Service Advisors will be happy to review the details with you during your appointment.

*Nissan Titan & NV200 models include a 5 year or 100k mile Bumper-to-Bumper warranty

Frequently Asked Service Questions

  • What is An Oil Change?: Your motor oil is considered the lifeblood of your vehicle because it protects and keeps your engine performing correctly. An oil change is when you drain the old, dirty oil out of the reservoir and replace it with the proper amount of clean conventional or synthetic motor oil.
  • Why Are Routine Oil Changes Important?: Because your motor oil is there to protect your engine, it's important that you have it changed during the recommended mileage intervals to keep your engine performing at the highest level. The motor oil is responsible for catching any loose dirt, dust or debris that might find its way into your engine, while also working to cool and lubricate the many moving engine parts. When you don't change your oil after the recommended amount of miles traveled, it can end up affecting your engine and the overall performance of your vehicle.
  • How Often Should I Change My Oil?: We recommend that you check your owner's manual for specific mileage recommendations. It all depends on how often you drive, but we recommend getting your oil changed every 5,000 miles or so, or twice a year.
  • Why Should I Rotate My Tires?: Whether your vehicle is front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the front tires tend to get worn down quicker than the rear tires because they are in charge of steering the vehicle. Rather than have to buy new tires once your front tires are completely worn out, you should have your back tires rotated into the place of your front tires, allowing those tires to wear down over time and get more life out of your entire set rather than buy new tires.
  • How Often Should I Rotate My Tires?: It's no definite science as it depends on how often you drive, where you drive and what kind of driver you are, but we recommend getting your tires rotated every six months or between 6,000 and 8,000 miles.
  • What is Recommended Routine Maintenance: For routine and seasonal maintenance, we'll give your vehicle a full multi-point inspection to find out what needs attention. We suggest an oil change, tire rotation, fluid replacement, wheel alignment, and more so you can drive with confidence knowing that your vehicle is prepared to continue performing at a high level well into the future.
